Thor Heyerdahl and the Kon-Tiki

Thor Heyerdahl and the Kon-Tiki
The Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl built the balsa raft Kon-Tiki in 1947 to sail across the Pacific from South America to the islands of Polynesia. Although his successful and heroic voyage demonstrated that Polynesia could have been populated from the Americas, other evidence suggests that this was probably not the characteristic pattern of settlement.
